“I hope any development maintains the same architectural style of existing homes. A soccer field would be very nice; I believe the location of such s/b close to existing playground so young children could use the playground while their older siblings might be using the soccer field. This would also combine parking to be more cost efficient. A mix of housing; townhomes, larger single family homes and smaller homes could accommodate several income levels. I liked the proposal of a walkway or promenade along the bank of the hill. I would hope that walkways would be asphalt rather than gravel. Thanks for allowing residents to comment. Good luck.”

“I feel that a large athletic field should be in a development the size of Kettle Valley. We need to promote outdoor activities and a sense of community from ages 1 thru 100.”

“I understand that Kettle Valley has created the parks and neighborhood that allow us to love where we live. I understand that kettle valley would lose money if they let the site be. I understand they want to keep the park. But we must have a connection to the rest so that we can all explore and feel free that is accessible to dog owners, seniors, and people with all abilities, this opportunity should not be wasted.”

“I'm not totally opposed to development of the land, but I would like to see mostly low-density, single family homes and maybe a few town homes for a bit of diversity…I would also like to see community trails, maintain some green space within that development and, if possible, retain the sports field.”

“Find a way to keep a soccer field even if it not full size and build out the rest.”

“Would like to see the field stay and ok with housing around it but do not think the field should be taken away.”

“Please consider removal of interchange proposed for Providence Ave. Too close to children playing at Main St park. Replace with cul-de-sac.”

“Please keep the soccer field!!!”

“In my opinion, if development is to occur on this site, it would make sense to preserve an athletic field / green space closer to Quilchena park, where parking and facilities exist. The hillside above could be preserved as a buffer to the existing residence on Tulameen, and part of this hillside could possibly be developed as an outdoor amphitheater/ seating for activities in the park (athletic field). Additionally, I would like to see the existing pathway/ (trail) that starts at the "trails" sign on providence, (next to the mailboxes Providence & Tulameen) be preserved as a trail/ walkway to Quilchena Park and beyond to residences. This trail is highly utilized and could be greatly enhanced as a green space and walkway (trial) with a few trees and this would present a nice buffer to potential Low Density single family houses that could be built on the existing "soccer field".”

“If residential development is chosen, it should be regulated to conform to KV standards and aesthetics; small houses are the least represented form of housing in the area so this would make sense, alongside preserved green space, community spaces, and trails.”

“Prefer that the area in question be less dense in occupancy than what was seen on the 3 options shown; ensure inclusion of a soccer field (adult size at minimum), prefer only large lot homes with very few to no townhomes - rather than a few townhomes.”

“We live across from the field at 418 Quilchena. Having bought in 2000, we knew the field was planned to be a school. Failing that, we assumed that eventually Kettle Valley would develop the property. We believe the best layout would be large lots on Quilchena with homes similar to Providence with garages behind on rear lanes. These homes would also be on Thalia while the interior could be developed with a mix of smaller lot homes, large lots and perhaps upscale townhouses, but our preference is single family homes priced accordingly. There should be an athletic field in the current scrub area on the SW corner adjacent to the current paved parking lot near the playground and waterpark. The parking lot could be enlarged. In essence, we want the style of homes that we bought into in 2000 to be continued in the new development with trees and enhanced street appeal. Homes with front porches and sidewalks encourages and continues our sense of community in Kettle Valley which is why we bought here in the first place.”

If the developers are adamant on building on the site, it should be significantly reduced in scope to maintain green space, and should be primarily affordable town home use - there are plenty of >$800,000 homes up here already - we would benefit from some diversity!”

“For the general public and the majority of residents in Kettle Valley there are only two public viewpoints to see the lake, Tulameen Park and Compass Park. I am mostly concerned with losing the lake view from Compass Park.”

“Kettle Valley needs extensive outdoor green and recreation space in this centre of our community. We need the field. We need a view inspired walking trail connecting through this area, we need a bike skills park or skate park or both for school aged kids to enjoy.”

“The park and soccer fields were one of the reasons I moved to Kettle Valley. It's terrific for my grandchildren and myself to play and hike in.”

“The already lovely, necessary greenspace could use some beautifying to make it even more usable for the community.”

“Please keep a safe open area for our kids to play/run freely away from a road.”

We love walking along the trail which connects the park with other areas of Kettle Valley - it's wonderful to have somewhere to walk that is more natural with wide open views of the lake.”
